I had already stamped two Amazing Grace chalkboard pieces so I quickly selected coordinating paper.
I used a Die Cuts With a View matstack called Garden Party and selected a nicely raised, embossed, and glittered paper with butterflies and flowers.
I cut the mat for an ivory card and backed it with a Bazzill Basics Herbal Garden Medium green layer. I used the same green to layer the chalkboard stamp. This stamp was one of my MUST HAVE's at the Creating Keepsakes convention I attended in April with my stepmom & stepsister!
By fussy-cutting the flowers I was able to get some depth to the card in addition to the lace behind the chalkboard.
A sheer bow on the bouquet and gems for the flower centers are the finishing touches.
Below is a close-up of the fussy-cut flowers.
I can always use the other piece of the mat I used to cut the flowers as a layer on another card.
The gems are lovely green Michael's gems.
Now father and daughter will receive similar cards.

ReplyDeleteThis is a stunning card...sad that it is a sympathy card...always so hard for the grieving...but this card will bring some solace to them...it really is lovely.
That sentiment is a treasure and the fussy cut flowers the perfect touch.
Thanks! My husband's favorite hymn is Amazing Grace, and so I thought it an appropriate sentiment for his Aunt. Sadly, they will have no service or memorial, so I will just pop these in the mail!
DeleteYour cards are gorgeous Dawn. I'm sorry for your loss, take care. Hugs, Wendy #121

So glad you are joining in the desk hopping fun. Love that sympathy card! Love that Garden Party paper, I need to find it..
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Winnie! I picked up that stack a while back and it only has 3 sheets with that design. I destroyed one by fussy-cutting. I wish I had used some paper flowers instead, so that I had 2 intact mats. I have the 12x12 matching pad, but the design is accordingly larger, and won't fit on a 5.25x6.5 card. Hmmm...maybe I can reduce it on a color copier and add my own embossing with an embossing pen....something to think about! :) In the meantime, I'm going to have a look at JoAnn & Michael's and see if they still have the stack! My SIL requested 4 cards. I think I can create a similar card with a scrolly stamp and some flowers, too. We'll see what's on my desk next time!
DeleteWinnie, I just checked and it's online at JoAnn DCWV Garden Party Matstack...on sale for $7.49! I would rather go in the store, so I will check there first!
DeleteI find sympathy cards always so hard to do, but yours are just lovely with the chalkboard verse and pretty colors. Happy WOYWW! Danie #34
