Today's Mojo Monday sketch is so clean and simple, I made 2 cards this morning!
This card I made with an Our Daily Bread stamp. I did not emboss it because I used a dye ink in Cocoa. I think I'd like to try another image with Versamark and heat emboss it. I've had the chalkboard stamp since April and haven't used yet and now I can't wait to try more designs with it. The stamp is by Our Daily Bread. I bought it at the Creating Keepsakes Convention in April. :).
My devotion verse today was appropriate, too. "My grace is sufficient for you" -- 2 Cor 12:9.
I immediately thought of this stamp as a sympathy card this week, because DH's ailing aunt passed away yesterday.
I did use CTMH Buzz & Bumble papers, and the My Stickease assortment for the embellishment, but I think it worked well with the gorgeous stamp.
The other card uses ALL Close to My Heart products and is highlighted on my Stamping Garden blog. I love that the sketch lent itself to two similar cards with different purposes.
I may be able to make several cards in this same design, it's so versatile.
Thank you, MojoMonday Team, for being such incredible inspiration! My cardmaking improves every week and I LOVE seeing what everyone does with the sketch!
Thanks for stopping by!
Such a pretty sympathy card. I am sorry for your family's loss. I am sure they will be comforted by it. I love the chalkboard technique and your card is perfect.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your loss. you have made 2 awesome cards...they are so stunning.
ReplyDeleteHow do you stamp the Amazing grace sentiment. I know to use the black cardstock, but how do you get the white font...do you use white ink and then clear emboss...or...
Thanks in advance for the answer!
Thank you, Scrappymo! The stamp itself is a reverse stamp, so the design is recessed and you ink the chalkboard background. I inked it with CTMH Cocoa ink and stamped it on ivory cardstock. As long as you get good inkage (is that a word?) and pressure, it looks good! I haven't tried it with embossing power yet to see how well the design holds up with the raised pattern. Now my SIL wants 4 of them, and I only have 1 more sheet of the paper. Am home sick from work, so this morning I looked through my papers to see if I had anything similar. I think i can make a similar corner design with a couple of stamps, so we'll see what I come up with!
DeleteI love this card, Dawn! Your chalkboard effect looks great and I love the flower at the top. Great card! TFS.
