One of our friend's daughter is turning 1 and I made 12 invitations for her little party. Mom's theme was alligators because of her favorite stuffed animal. I found the perfect stamp in the Stampin' Up Wild About You set. I heat embossed the alligator, then stamped the flowers without embossing.

I paired that with some hot pink reptile skin paper, which I die cut using a scalloped rectangle Spellbinder. The base layer is from the DCWV Animal Crackers stack. 

Glitter Glue on Die Cuts

The 1's were cut on my Cricut. 

They seemed pretty plain, so I coated them with orange glitter glue and let them dry.  They proved to be fairly difficult to adhere because they curled.  I used some heavy duty GlueDots to ensure they stuck down.  One thing I can't stand is for my cards to fall apart in 6 months, so I am fairly picky about making sure the layers and embellishments are thoroughly attached.

Alligator Birthday

The dark brown cardstock bases are a set of blank cards by Paper Studio.  We printed the party information on white and adhered it inside the card. 

I ended up with a cute set of party invitations that are not too girly and not too pink - exactly the effect desired.

History-Grad Card

An historical card- Reviewing some of my cards is fun! 
I think as I keep posting them, you'll see that I have a large hoard of unsent cards! I would have to answer my survey at over 25 :)

This card is for a masculine graduation card...not using a cap and scroll.
The paper drove my design and is from the Basic Gray Cupcake Collection stack.
I used a Fiskars sentiment from the All Around Quotes stamp set. I stamped it in Versamark and heat-embossed it on a pre-cut scalloped square...die cut with Spellbinders and layered with one in a complementary color. The bicycle is a Tim Holtz stamp, from the Playful Journey set, which I embossed on a vellum strip. In lieu of ribbon, I used 2 coordinating paper strips to cover the edges of the vellum.

I think this is the fastest card I have EVER made.  

It took me about 30 minutes from start to finish. I'm loving MOJO sketches!

I had already been playing with the striped patterned paper by DCWV, in the My Sunshine stack, on my CTMH blog (see the link on the sidebar) and it made a great banner shape and just worked perfectly on the Tim Holtz, Vintage Shabby background paper. The card base and the dotty green is by Studio G.


I had a chance to include the phone box from the Stampin' Up Feeling Sentimental set.  I inked it up with Night of Navy SU ink, and heat embossed it with a blue lustre embossing powder. Watercolor pencil in red highlighted the phone box and I inked the edges of the layer as well.

I cut the circle using a large Spellbinders circle die, and the outside CTMH pear cardstock is punched with a 2-1/2" circle punch.

The sketch gave a choice of round or square - again, so since I did a round card last time, I chose square!

History-Dreams

I had a busy weekend, and only made 1 card...but I can't show it yet (hubby's birthday today).  So, today I'm posting an older card I made for a colleague who was leaving for a better job in November 2011.

I was all about Pink & Black & White at the time. This card caught my eye on SplitCoastStampers, and I loved it. I computer-generated the sentiment, spacing it appropriately and emphasizing the same words.  It's not as pretty as Julia's original.  I used my Spellbinders die cut for the white die cut layer around the sentiment.  The black layer, though, was hand-trimmed. 

I didn't even stamp on the outside of the card. The inside was stamped with "Congratulations".

Other than dry-embossing the white bottom layer with a diamond pattern, and a different patterned paper, this card is pretty much a copy. They say imitation is the best form of flattery, so thank you, Julia M. for the inspiration.

Monkey Business

Lonely Card

   I had a request for some Baby Shower for TWIN BOYS invitations...so I made a few samples.  The expectant mother wanted monkeys.   This sample was my favorite! In the end, the shower-throwing committee selected some pre-printed cards.  It's lonely because I can't use only 1 invitation -- that won't result in very many attendees. I don't actually have a large stamp that says "twins".  So I used a sticky note and masked the word "wings" and added a "t" in front to make "twin".

   Showing this card off prompted the request for the twins congratulations cards posted previously. 

   Maybe it would be cuter if I put "It's Twins!" in the top left, and add "baby" instead of twin at the bottom right.  I didn't use any ribbon because it was for boys. What do you think?

    I have the paper and materials to make several more...maybe I will make a set and post it on Etsy!  Or, maybe I will just make some twins and friends birthday cards using the rest of the materials.

Blingy Card

This card sparkles & has a mix of trendy black, pink & green.  I cased a PIN from Mary Fish at StampinPretty.com because I had the same stamps.

The Stampin'Up Birthday Whimsy cake and the Small Script sentiment are great here.  I heat-embossed both. I used spellbinders petite scalloped circle for the black layer, and a white gel pen to dot the scallops.

I added sparkly ribbon to the silver hardware and some gemstones in the corners. 

I made several similar cards during recuperation from a minor surgery this spring, so don't be surprised if you get one this year!
